The ACBF has been held every year since, except for 2005, and it currently takes place twice a year and features an invited line-up of 150 artists with Turner Prize winners pitching next to rising stars, fine artistsnext to street artists and everything in between.
NEW ARTWORK BY THE AWARD-WINNING CONTEMPORARY ARTIST FAYE BRIDGWATER WILL BE EXHIBITED ONLINE BY GLYNDEBOURNE FROM 1 – 28 FEBRUARY 2021.
Ritual and Repetitions brings together sixteen new paintings created by Bridgwater during lockdown over the winter of 2020. All of the works are inspired by the landscape of the Sussex Downs around Brighton, where the artist lives and works.
The title of the exhibition is a reference to Bridgwater’s rigorous creative process, which follows a ritual of documenting, drawing and distilling. She starts every new painting by walking the countryside, revisiting places and views over days and weeks to record details that others might miss. In her studio, she installs numerous canvases across her walls and draws and writes directly onto each one, working across all the paintings at once and refining her ideas over time.
Along with fluorescent pinks and dazzling yellows, the new paintings feature a vibrant green, a colour Bridgwater has not been drawn to before, that is inspired by Glyndebourne. ‘The green reflects on seeing Glyndebourne’s gardens for the first time,’ Faye explains. ‘Anyone who visits Glyndebourne must be blown away by the approach. There are breathtaking views on all sides. Then you discover these beautiful grounds in the middle of the hills. Like a secret garden, full of colour and interesting natural shapes, even in the middle of winter. I’m lucky I can escape to my studio’, she says, ‘when others can’t go outside. I want to fill the room with wonderful bright colours when it’s grey out there and create joy through paint’.
The full exhibition can be viewed by clicking here.
Faye's first solo exhibition! Founder of the ever-growing Facebook group Brighton Skies, Faye spends her days looking up at the sky and out to sea. Her paintings capture fleeting moments of light, playful movement and her emotional response to the landscape . The Sussex coastline and rolling South Downs are a constant influence. Click here for more details.

I am honoured to have been selected by Tabish Khan to exhibit in this year’s Discerning Eye exhibition. My sculpture, Escarpment, is a three piece ceramic landscape. It can be placed in different arrangements for an ever-changing sculpture. If you would like to see it, please click here.
The ING Discerning Eye is an annual exhibition of domestic sized works selected by six prominent selectors from the art world. Each year two artists, two collectors and two critics curate their own ‘mini exhibition’. This year our selectors are Dale Lewis, David Remfry RA, Beverley Knight, Mervyn Metcalf, Jo Baring and Tabish Khan.
My contemporary watercolour, Chapters, has been selected for the Society of Women Artists’ 159th Annual Open Exhibition. The painting is 140 miniature, watercolour studies with expressive mark-making through carbon paper. This work takes you on a journey with your eye darting from chapter to chapter. The simple line giving the viewer just a hint of the journey. My friend and excellent artist, Steve Geliot’s description of the work: “Beautiful. I love the economic use of line and colour to say so much. It is beautifully calm and unfussy”
The exhibition is online, this year, and can be viewed by clicking here.
